A ceremony was held today dedicating the new Vilonia bypass and marking of the new relocation of Highway 64.  The project began in 2005. Grading and building of the road structure began in 2007. The bypass is 10 miles in length, cost $42 million, and was built in 3 phases. The old Highway 64 will become Highway 64-B through Vilonia. It will be a few more days before traffic will be allowed to drive it. Speakers included Scott Bennett, director of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, John Burkhalter, State Highway Commissioner, Vilonia Mayor James Firestone and Faulkner County Judge Preston Scroggin. Music was provided by the Vilonia High School Band and the Primary Melodies, a Vilonia Elementary School Choir.
