Faulkner County, Arkansas

Many of you entering our website on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, were greeted with different image than you usually see. That was because the Faulkner County Website was defaced by hackers.   After verifying that the page was not infecting visitors, we contacted our hosting provider to have them restore the site from a backup.  Since there were no Virus, Trojans, or Malware on the page, the computers used to view our site with were not harmed or compromised in any form or fashion.  It was more of an inconvenience than a threat.  Our website is hosted with an off-site company; therefore, it is not linked to any County computer or server and no personal, citizen, or county information was accessed or lost.  There was no danger at any time of any information being tampered with, seen or stolen.  The site was fully restored from back-up yesterday afternoon.

We will continue working with the State Cyber Security Office in an attempt to identify the person or persons responsible for this. Also, Security measures have been tightened to prevent this from happening in the future.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
