 Governor Mike Beebe has declared September 8-11 MED week in Arkansas. The National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) week is a celebration of the contributions made by minority enterprises and an opportunity to recognize and honor accomplished minority business owners and advocates throughout the country. There were several local business owners honored on Tuesday during a luncheon held at the University of Central Arkansas. Some that were honored and received awards are, Gary Lasker of Lasker Construction, Greg Hunt owner of Sandstone Real Estate, Julio Hernandez of La Huerta, and Ken Patel of Conway Lodging. Troy and Mary Acklin were honored as the Minority Advocates of the Year. The final award was presented to Chad Russell of the Conway Chamber of Commerce. He received the Minority Enterprises Regional Director Award. Pictured here is Mary Acklin receiving her award and Brad Lacy with the Conway Chamber of Commerce.Â
