Kris Allen, of Conway Arkansas was announced the winner of American Idol Season 8 last night. There was a large crowd gathered at Simon Park in downtown Conway for an American Idol watch party. Kris has been described as the underdog of the show for months. There were nearly 100 million votes cast , a show record, after the final performances on Tuesday night. Kris looked to be very shocked when Ryan Seacrest announced that he was the winner. Asked how it felt to win, he said, "It feels good , but Adam deserves this." Adam Lambert of San Diego California came in second place.Â
