It is an honor to be appointed to fill the vacancy left by Judge Scroggin's resignation.  Thank you for the many calls, notes, emails, visits, and messages of congratulations and support.

I want to thank the employees of Faulkner County, who have endured much uncertainty over the past several months due the election cycle and the recent vacancy in the County Judge's office.  Maintaining stability and uninterrupted operation was a concern.  Everyone pulled together and Faulkner  County Government continued without interruption.  The people of Faulkner County can take pride in their government and the employees of all departments.

What a great county we have.  Faulkner County is a leader among counties in so many ways.  We'll look at some of those ways in future blog entries.  For now, it can be summed up like this:  Faulkner County is a great place to live, work, shop, go to school, and go to church.  That is a tribute to the people, the employees, the elected officials and leaders, the businesses, and the communities of Faulkner County through the years.

Faulkner County is poised to continue doing great things.  We'll complete the transition to partially self-funded health insurance.  We're building a long-overdue Criminal Justice Center, bringing the courts into a single location, centralizing the criminal justice system, and modernizing security.   We'll be undertaking several road and bridge projects to maintain the outstanding road system we have in comparison to other counties across the state, and we'll continue our outstanding road maintenance program.

From our outstanding Road Administration, to the preparedness activities of our Office of Emergency Services, to our award-winning Floodplain Management Program, to our Information Technology projects large and small, to the many services we provide across all other departments and aspects of Faulkner County Administration... We will continue to provide outstanding infrastructure and vital services, clean and orderly buildings, and professional and courteous service to the public.

We will continue to be responsive to our citizens.  We will be fiscally conservative.

Finally, it is certain that difficulties will inevitably arise from time to time, but in everything we do, we're going to work hard, do things the right way, and make conscientious decisions.  By conducting ourselves that way, we can be proud of our work and the citizens can be proud of their government.

In closing, I would be remiss if I did not recognize the contributions of Judge Preston Scroggin.  His contributions to Faulkner County will be felt for many years.  On behalf of the citizens and employees of Faulkner County, thank you and congratulations on your appointment as the Director of the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commissions, Judge Scroggin.
